Dennis Roberts

Dennis Roberts is Chairman of The McLean Group, LLC, a middle market investment bank headquartered in the Washington, DC area with about 30 offices in the US and Canada. Mr. Roberts is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and an enrolled Federal Tax Accountant. He is a formerly practicing CPA who has been involved in financial transaction sourcing and structuring activities for more than 40 years.

Mr. Roberts is a practiced full time middle market investment banker who has been involved in advisory services for thousands of middle market businesses. He began his career as a practicing CPA and has since been the chairman of public companies and national banks. Additionally, Mr. Roberts has authored numerous articles that have been the subject of numerous media interviews including radio, television and The New York Times. . He continues to teach and lecture on the art and science of M&A for both professional and academic organizations, and has been designated a Distinguished Lecturer on many occasions nationally.

Mr. Roberts co-founded the AMAA and MMIBA and is the author of the first M&A courses developed for the both the AMAA and NACVA. He served as a member of the original AICPA committee (lead by the Illinois CPA Foundation) that organized the first extensive formal education materials for training CPAs in business valuation. He is the author of An Insider's Guide to the Purchase and Sale of Middle Market Business Interests, published in 2009 by John Wiley & Sons. Mr. Roberts has also served as an expert in many prominent valuation cases including the Nixon Watergate Tapes.

Mr. Roberts’ passions are practicing, teaching and writing about his profession. His low key style and personality make him amenable to all inquiries, to those people who share a love or even have an interest in the profession that has served him well.
